Amptec delivers versatile audio system for North Limburg Cultural Centre
CC De Adelberg
10-11-2022 / Live /Cultuurcentrum De Adelberg has been an urban cultural centre and meeting place in the heart of the Belgian town of Lommel for over twenty-five years. They offer a wide variety of activities, ranging from theatre, music, and dance to lectures, and yoga classes. The centre also boasts a cinema with daily screenings and a gallery for art exhibitions. Having undergone extensive renovations in 2020 to bring the interior up to modern standards, the time had also come to revitalise the sound system in the main auditorium. CC De Adelberg turned to Amptec who delivered a tailored d&b PA and monitor set capable of handling the diverse requirements of the venue.
Amptec designed a L/C/R point source system based on d&b’s Yi7P loudspeakers with an E8 centre delay to counteract the shadow effect of the lowered ceiling over the audience area. Four 4S lipfills cover the front rows and a pair of V-GSUBs complete the system. An R90 remote control touchscreen connected to the 40D amplifiers offers easy, fingertip control. Amptec also provided a mobile monitor set comprising eight M6 monitors complete with wheelboards and stacking shelves.
“The amps are controlled via the R90 from the control room, giving the venue a high quality sound system that is easy to configure for the various applications they require.”
“A point source system offers the best sound dispersion for the room,” says Amptec’s Brecht Ieven. “The Yi7Ps provide controlled broadband dispersion and the cardioid subs offer great dispersion control for the low end. Energy is focused on the audience which avoid unwanted reflections from the walls and ceiling, thereby massively improving speech intelligibility. The amps are controlled via the R90 from the control room, giving the venue a high quality sound system that is easy to configure for the various applications they require.”
“The new point source system has more than lived up to expectations - the distance between the back rows in the expanded setup and the speakers is 24m, but you can hear everything perfectly!”
CC De Adelberg’s technical manager Peter Wijgaerts is delighted with the results. “We wanted a sound system that would cover the whole theatre and guarantees a great listening experience in both the small (365 seats) and large (365 +100 parterre) setups. The new point source system has more than lived up to expectations - the distance between the back rows in the expanded setup and the speakers is 24m, but you can hear everything perfectly!”
